America is not alone in ignoring its time served veterans. As a Brit veteran with both knees smashed by arthritis and no medical help in sight I feel for the American vets injured in service to their country.

@johnblumenstiel2304

Voting decisions made based on the "lesser of two evils" is acceptance of a deteriorating status quo. Our political mindset must be elevated. We must demand political aspirants who commit to and fight for the people’s values and needs. We must ask ourselves, "Are my and my family’s needs being met by this system of “lesser evil choices?"

@rexjamerson9316

As an American, I find it difficult to debate most any of these points? When I was a teenager in the 1960s I became seriously interested in cycling and bicycle racing. I felt like I was born and raised in the wrong country? I followed European cycling and the Tour de France and track racing. And at the age of 72, I still ride! And BTW, not all Americans are the same.

@100perdido

As an American, born and raised as we say, I can say that this video hits pretty close to the center of the dart board. My fellow Americans are some of the most ignorant, arrongant, rude, fat, loud and tone deaf to other cultures of any group I have encountered, not to mention ethnocentric and defensive as hell, ready to fight upon hearing any criticisism. And add brainwashed to boot.
But this is not entirely their fault. Americans are an isolated people with little opportunity to experience other cultures or to be exposed to different ideas,. Being relentlessly propagandized from childhood that American culture is superior to all others, that our systems of economics, education, healthcare, transportation ect are the only logical way to do things, it is little wonder that we are the poorly education rubes that we are.
And I might add dangerous as well. From its inception, the U.S. has been at war. First with the native population, then taking half of Mexico by force, being at war at one time or another with most major world powers and meddling in the affairs of countless smaller countries.
Now it's time to tell me to 'love it or leave it'. Trust me. i would but our phony money which we have cocerced the world to accept is not worth much anymore so I can't afford to leave.

@LuckysLair

I was stationed in Germany for 1 1/2 years, visited France, Austria, as well. Returned to show my daughters all three countries twenty years later, it took me over a year to save enough money to pay for it and going the budget route. While in Germany on that vacation we met and are still friends with a German couple who often travel to the U.S. I spoke German fairly well when stationed there. I brushed up on it 10 years after leaving Germany when I worked at an airport that had a weekly German based airline flight, Later I tried to learn French three times without much success....too many letters that never seem to get pronounced kinda always tripped me up. One thing I quickly noticed while living in Europe, is that you can easily drive through several distinctly different countries, cultures, and languages within a single day, whereas the opposite is true for the overwhelming majority of people living in America.
I never had any problems with people in Europe, not even the French (LOL), I always made it a point to learn as much as I can about where I was traveling to and try to speak the language. Coming from poverty, I appreciated the opportunity to experience it, and was grateful.
 Note: Not to excuse any misbehavior or lack of understanding, because I loathe poor behavior by Americans when being a guest, but to assume that anyone can just on a whim hop on a flight and travel to Europe and become "enriched" is the height of "privilege".

@PacoOtis

Greetings! I am an American octogenarian and, somewhat, a history buff! Our Country has always been a hateful, racist and ignorant Country and, it appears we take pride in it. I've been in Europe and Africa quite a bit and observed the "Ugly American" enough times to be ashamed. I would predict our Country is doomed, but wish all of us the best! Thanks for sharing.

@stevensonsnape7463

As an American, I agree wholeheartedly with this video. It’s sad, but true.

@MitchDunn-v2h

I live in Germany for three years while I was stationed in the Army. I found at the time that my home state of Oregon, was very similar to most of Europe. It's not the same anymore. I miss Europe greatly.

@neosandy

American here and I couldn't disagree w anything. I wish more people here voted.

@G41251

I’m American and I 100% agree… how we treat our veterans is despicable. And how we have allowed our homeless population to increase dramatically over the last decade and do NOTHING to help them is absolutely SHAMEFUL!

@beerman204

There was a time when "hands across America" and "We are the world" spoke of a kind of goodness and well meaning spirit among our citizens. But over the last 30 years or so we've gotten more cynical, less warm hearted feelings among us, and "show me the money" and "be rich or be gone" are current themes.
America really needs to chill out and reduce arrogance and greed and rediscover what it means to love our country.

@Dickens58

I went into this thinking, "I wonder how many I will agree with"...and I have to say it was 20 for 20 and I was born and raised in the US. :)

@MiguelMartinez-lu9kv

I'm a Mexican who lived in the U.S for 40 yrs
I can say it's people are spoiled brats beautiful people in a beautiful country built by hard, intelligent and dedicated work
I acknowledge it's very many imperfections but overall a A1 rated place on earth

@amazingworldadventures325

I have thought most of these things for years. If I could gain citizenship in any European country, I would be living in Europe. One can only do so much on an individual level. I bike and walk as much as possible but our infrastructure is actively hostile to such things.

@nathanlaoshi8074

Most of these details are structural issues of which any U.S. individual likely to view this video is aware. I suppose that we are indirectly responsible for not being able to vote in competent leadership, however it is only a "hard" truth if the viewer has difficulty in accepting it. Most of us understand our societal problems and agree that having some of the traits more common in Europe would be advantageous. I'm afraid that this video will not reach the audience that needs it.

Oh, speaking of the arrogance of which we're being accused: consider the source. That would be Europe.

@liamwagner6597

I am a European who lived in many countries with different languages and ethnicities from an early age on and has now found a home in Canada for years. With my girlfriend, a Brit from the southwest of England (Devon), but also with relatives and friends, I traveled Canada from east to west, but also America to the same extent.

I'm a fan of longer road trips, because you often get stranded somewhere randomly and able to meet folks who developed different but often very interesting concepts for their lives. And so, over time, you learn that prejudices and stereotypes are pretty much the most superfluous stuff you ever may be confronted with, since they never really reflect the complexity of any society. And especially not in the context of individuality and originality.

I got more and more critical about current developments in the US every year, especially since I became a godfather to new US citizens, my brother's twin sons. Nevertheless, such comparisons as in this video still give me a certain stomach ache, each time I watch them - even if I cannot completely deny certain facts from the video.

The truth is usually somewhere in between.

@QuantumEffectResidue

There is only one reason that I haven't packed up and moved out of the United States and renounce my citizenship. And that reason is the lack of funds to do so. To me this country has become unlivable and Canada is no better either. As soon as I can afford it I'm out of here.

@Michaelcj-m2d

exMichigan in Spain 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇺🇪🇺👍. I never felt USA life was for me. Then was stationed in Spain in the USAF. Been here 30 years.

@georgepalmer5497

When I heard the title of this I was expecting things like: America is a hedgemonistic, imperialist power, American has overthrown three democracies, and so on. I was getting ready to say that every country has their skeletons in their closet. I'm glad that didn't materialize. As for these hard truths, they seem reasonable. I'll have to put them to the test.

@Charlene-y4h

After viewing this video, I have come to believe I am a European at heart. There is nothing but truth in this video; and I apologize for the arrogance and ignorance of our people.
