These students are all very impressive, and it's clear listening to them why they're attending Harvard. I expect they'll have amazing careers ahead of them.

@alisalimi1794

It's refreshing to see so many bright smart minds

@mydogsed

Dude the prosecutor is visually a very good representative of the government. Well-fitted coat and shirt, nice tie -- the way he speaks so rhythmically just gives him such a presence in the room, as if he is the embodiment of the law itself.

5:24 1786 😭😭 Dear God I can only imagine how many cases he had to read to prepare for that argument

@bebop-p9s

Happy the Respondents won best overall. As mentioned by Justice Haris, their task was much more difficult! Though the Oralists put up a good fight, Respondents had to be textualistically precise through the eye of a needle. Their responsibility for burden of proof was much, much higher! Congrats to all. As a Harvard law alumni, it makes me feel oh-so good to see fellow Harvard students argue this precisely!

@andrewk7959

What an incredible showcase of skill and boldness. This particular competition really had me hooked!

@lkaderogba6256

He argued better than some lawyers in that appeared in the SC

Finally! [reuploaded to include panel's comments]

@jdmans

Congratulations to everyone especially for your contributions. You will all have great careers..not everyone of course will litigate, and as everyone knows 90-95% of cases are now settled through being mediated, arbitrated, or negotiated, but if that is the choice everyone will do well. I am doing the UBE bar exam with all of your graduates in July ..let's all pass.

At 7:00 in the video, they reference the Heller case, which is the case that defined the Second Amendment is an individual right for citizens.

@musiclover9326

The petitioners were extremely complex in their arguments which at times was hard to follow. They missed clear head-scratching arguments from the respondent like "just like the IRS offers a pathway for non-citizens to pay taxes without facing risk of deportation, we believe the government can do the same to own a firearm." the difference is that paying taxes is an action which proves a demonstrable tie to the political community, by endowing a benefit on that community. owning a gun does not do these things, rather it potentially creates a larger risk to the community. all citizens are required to pay taxes, but not all citizens are required to buy a gun.
