Thank you sir !
Francis Bacon's "Novum Organum" doesn't mean "new world", as James mentioned. It means new organ, instrument, or tool. The ambiguity is nice here: the epistemic machinery of the organ of the mind was itself, so Bacon proclaimed, in need of revision. Scientific thinking needed a software update, e.g., Bacon was also doing a kind of Science of science. To a certain extent, the modern history of philosophy engaged in epistemology, or the problem of knowledge, method, and the attainment of reproducible truths, could be seen as a series of attempts at the Science of science. In light of this, whether or not James' approach itself is all that surprising is a bit questionable. Rather, the means of gathering and sorting data through vast computer models seems to be the determining factor here.
This is super interesting!
Thanks For this!
Very nice section on Peirce, abduction, expeditions, and surfing the boundary. What about: Abduction in Dewey's instrumentalism and Toulmin argumentation? Merging dynamic systems theory with Dewey's instrumentalism (W. Teed Rockwell)?
I literally think my head has grown from all the gosh darned thinking.
You're forgetting about the icebergs we're already hitting as a civilization
Dude has figured out using AI to write papers and grant proposals. He got a $20 million grant for this be said.
A true and unfiltered, free and brave AGI would tell us to explore psychedelia (the 'useful disruption' mentioned in the episode) and shun personal gain within a community in the same way that most of our ancestors did (the 'memory' mentioned in the episode), which is how we came to be at all in the first place, thus highlighting the importance of such, so/but with our ego-based human nature, we will roadblock it and constrain it to make it lesser-than-AGI, and then we will declare it "The True AGI". Only humans! ❤ So, call now for this amazing special discount offer, while operators are $$$tanding by!
