I think it’s very cool how despite her being a cultural woman of color, the European painters did not know what she looked like. All they were told is that she was very beautiful. With just this knowledge of her beauty and not knowing how she looked, they applied their own standards of a very beautiful woman, meaning reddish hair and fair skin. Like they weren’t trying to be racist, they were just using their own perspective to paint someone they’d never see

Reminds me of my husbands and I relationship i came in to his life when he was 39 he had never engaged with the opposite sex he felt he would die alone never had felt the love of a woman and a family. He gave me all he had i wanted nothing i said how could he ever love someone whose defective and undesirable by worlds standards and i had nothing to offer him. Plus we were an entire world apart, he said we all deserve to love and be loved. He broke my heart with that one so i left America with all my children and physical defects and we moved to the Netherlands 🇳🇱 He gave up all his wealth all his comforts everything so we could be together. 8 years later he has grown in his love twards me he has never faultered nor has he ever regret the decision, he is father now and stepfather. He know we will never leave each other no matter who or what is infront of us not until our Lord decides to take me. When ive asked why fall for someone like me till this day he says because who u are inside. (He looks in my eyes and i feel he can see me)
