I worked the same job for 10 years and was on Medicaid for the last 5 because I didn’t make enough. I’m on my wife’s insurance now but this would crush a lot of working poor people like me who work in the restaurant business and aren’t full time and make less than $20k a year.

European here. It's insane, your healthcare system is insane. The primary responsibility of any social democracy must be the welfare of its citizens - we recognize that this side of the pond. That the wealthiest nation ever is willing to unnecessarily have it's people die in a capitalism purity contest defies reason. I'm in NW Iowa. Very rural with lots of food deserts already. Iowa talks about the impact Iowans are already dealing with, doctor and nurse shortages, but our state is unwilling to do anything worthwhile to fix it. I've no doubt Ernst and Grassely will vote for this bill. I mean, why start caring about Iowans now, right? Ernst is just waiting for her constituents to die anyway.

There will never be enough schadenfreude to make up for the loss of trust I have in my family, neighbors and country. When the United States double downed on Trump's brand of leadership, it sent a clear message to me what the country values. I'm not going to forget that.

My main concern is how to survive all of these financial and political crisis, especially in light of the US political power scuffle. The government has really called things more difficult for its citizens, and we can't sit back and bear all the consequences of the bad governance.
