@GentleJellicent

YouTube videos for kids used to be like this, now it's moved on to YouTube Shorts. Funny how history repeats itself.

@funnyvideoguy3216

YouTube was never supposed to be a short term content platform, and it would be better without it, but unfortunately we’ve come to a point where every social media platform is trying to be like everyone else

@KatsyKat

What’s also really annoying is how sometimes even just going into the app it forces a short onto you

@MrHangman56

the biggest thing i hate, is that youtube is retroactively turning older short videos into shorts automatically, or hiding the originals to push reuploaded shorts from different people. it's awful

@ZeroNeedsCoffee

Can confirm youtube shorts is a cesspool

@Bigfoot_With_Internet_Access

That one guy who speed runs shorts is one of the only shorts creators who's actually decent

@trollgedrip

youtube shorts are not beyond terrible, there are no words to describe youtube shorts, they are the ninth circle of hell if it had short form content

@davisthegamelord

Another problem I have is you cant fast forward or rewind the video. If you miss something you have to rewatch the video to see what you missed

@Itz_ElectroLite

If YT Shorts wants to survive, they'll need to start putting a better "for you" algorithm in. If not, it'll just kick the bucket more.

@keegeeyt

I babysat some kids a few weeks back and they showed me “skibidi bop yes yes yes” shorts for literally 45 minutes. Four. Five.

@Nothereanymore7

the weirdest most disturbing short I've ever seen was this weird epidemic of 18+ shorts with sketchy websites and videos. the shorts algorithm sucks especially at the early days, its not as bad now (I think I dont really go on it much) also when I was seeing that content nobody else was talking about it so

@TooRudeProductions

I'm so glad somebody is covering this because it's getting out of hand, either it's the same video I've seen 30 times or it's just the most random cringe garbage you've ever seen in your life and there is literally no in between

@nextepwastaken

short form content is the root of all evil

@snailssilly

I've seen straight up animal abuse and animal death videos with no warning on shorts

There was one where someone trapped salamanders in these plastic egg sacks, and then cut it to "free them" and you could see other dead salamanders floating in the water. Also found a lady at a crocodile farm, teasing and pulling/swinging a younger croc by its tail while it was making painful, terrified noises. horrifying stuff tbh

@Pipkiablo

What I hate is how all short form videos seem to have automatically been retroactively converted into shorts. I can't watch an old meme video or vine that existed before shorts were a thing without being teleported into shorts.

@germanidolgod8586

Moral of the story: YouTube shouln't be trying to be TikTok.

I've often stated that TikTok is damaging society by pushing the worst kinds of content out to people and overall shortening our attention spans to that of goldfish; but for some reason people still eat it up. YouTube was made to be optimized for long-form video content; with its algorithim rewarding videos that get people to stick around from start to finish. And, as awful as TikTok is; it's optimized for endlessly mindlessly scrolling through short, vapid, empty content. There is no middle ground between the two platforms.

@narwalace3823

I wish they had an option to turn off the lil short cut to them that appears after the first 2 or 3 recommended videos.
I hate getting sucked in when I see a new dino bunny upload and accidentally end up going down a rabbit hole

@retrojupiterr

if youtube shorts are called shorts are long videos called pants

@moore_emma

Dang, I hear you, man! The Shorts scene on YT can feel like a desert sometimes. Though, I've found a silver lining with boost app social. It gives you access to some really cool AI tools that can help you create quality content in seconds. Might help filter out the noise.
