Berdly has some weird parallels with Spamton. Both are desperate for recognition, both are turned into puppets by a greater force, both are pacified by cutting the wires, and both meet the same fate in the other route. The only difference is that Berdly can break his own strings and, in his own words, take his freedom.

CHIKEN. i had NEVER THOUGHT about the potential double meaning of ralsei's little spiel when kris and susie first meet up with him again. i've always felt like ralsei knew a lot more than he lead on but it's very interesting that he only mentions the time being short AFTER susie corrects him about it. if sans is self-aware and aware of time in-game (and technically irl, ie. the "another 2 years" reference), what if ralsei is ALSO aware of it irl? i saw a theory a while ago that perhaps ralsei is kind of a representation for giving the player, NOT KRIS, but the PLAYER, the adventures one might have wished to go on with asriel, and never could. hence also why ralsei seems dismissive about some of kris and susie's requests, is reluctant to learn new game mechanics in order to maintain the "player is in control" aspect, totally brushes off kris' very obvious discomfort after the whole spamton/puppet thing; perhaps all in an attempt to make the experience the most enjoyable it can be for the PLAYER, not necessarily for kris. maybe ralsei knows that kris is something of a vessel for us to play through, and is aware that they don't totally have free will, but goes along with it for the sake of the player. i don't think ralsei is evil or malicious or anything, just desperately trying to hold onto false pretenses and pull the wool over our eyes for the sake of the players' entertainment. anyway don't mind me i'm just typing as things come to mind. terribly sorry for the long comment lol. really enjoyed the playthrough. bummed i couldn't see it live but glad to watch it now! much love <3

i wonder also if the in-game religion worships the player as a deity. i think alvin or somebody mentions the "angel" as a god of sorts, and pulling from undertale lore, the *player* is the "angel" in the legend of the deltarune, the one who has "seen the surface" and will make the underground go empty. i wonder if, apart from undertale, the "surface" is moreso the real world, not in-game. perhaps spamton knows that there's a world outside of the game and he beckons kris to join him in 'seeing the light' so to speak. "we'll reach our heads up through the clouds to see heaven", "heaven, are you watching?", etc, etc. i don't know, just a thought :))
