Planes can also shoot themselves down without the use of a tail gun. There have been cases of pilots flying into their own stream of bullets.

This goes deeper - this is storytelling with gameplay. There is no scripted cutscene or event where you have to shoot out the tail - it's just the design of the game nudges the player to recreate this scene completely organically. It's like visual storytelling but for games - ludic storytelling?
